Ribbon Cables and their applications

Single- and multi-coloured ribbon cables are used e.g. in fixed connections in telecommunication devices or electronic control systems for machines.

Telephone cables in practice

These cables are used not only in telecommunications, but they also proved to be good for standard telephone connections with the most common number of cores.

FLRY cables for car installations

FLRY cables are made with thinned PVC insulation. Thinner insulation causes that rated voltage of these cables is 60V (while for other popular car cables LgYS it is 220V) and current-carrying capacity depends on wire cross-section.

Another feature that differentiates these cables from popular LgYS cables is operating temperature range as follows:

  • for high-voltage LgYS from -40 to 90°C
  • for low-voltage FLRY from -40 do 105°C.

This slight difference allows FLRY cables to be used also in engine compartment for wiring components distant from engine block and also underneath it. Due to these particular parameters they are often chosen for low-voltage part of electrical installation already at the vehicle design stage,, being the basic type of used cable.

FLRY cables are done in two variants, depending on wire construction:

  • with regularly stranded FLRY-A. Construction of the cables makes the cable more stiff.
  • with irregularly stranded FLRY-B made of more thinner single wires what makes the cables more flexible and the minimum bending radius shorter.

All FLRY cables from BQ CABLE are RoHS compliant.
