Silver-coated copper leads from BQ Cable come in various diameters, packaged on rolls, in the most common gauges. Copper serves as a flexible supporting structure, while the current flows mainly through the silver coating. The wires are primarily used in high frequency circuits, of MHz and higher, because due to the skin effect the current flows only on the surface of the wire, i.e. the silver that has lower resistivity. Therefore, silver-coated copper wires are especially useful in applications where it is necessary to maximally mitigate any attenuation of the transmitted signal.
